Liberty University’s Department of Sport, Event, & Tourism Management and the School of Business are excited to announce the NEW Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management degree program with classes available in the Fall 2020 semester. The curriculum was developed to meet the guidelines of the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA), the premier accrediting body for academic programs in Hospitality Management. The program was recently approved by SACSCOC (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges) and will pursue ACPHA accreditation when it is qualified to do so. The Bachelor of Science degree program will train students to assume management positions in various service areas within the hospitality industry. These include, Conferences and Events, Foodservice, Guest Services, Lodging Management, and Tourism. In addition to receiving in-class instruction, students will perform immersive practical experiences in their preferred industry segment through the required practicum and internship.
Program courses ensure that students will become familiar with the issues, challenges, opportunities, and nuances of the industry. The curriculum also provides a solid business foundation to foster both proactive and data-driven decision making which enhance the manager’s fiduciary responsibilities to the organization, employees, guests, and society.
Students will sit before experienced professors who will provide context to managerial performances within the hospitality industry. In addition to biblical integration, professors will cultivate ethical decision making and endeavor to hone students’ professional development by calling upon the professors’ industry experience, teaching, and scholarly activities. While the Hospitality Management program concentrates on a specific industry, its holistic approach aspires to develop exceptional managers and leaders equipped to handle today’s challenges, capitalize on extant opportunities, and who serve as positive examples of individuals who integrate a consistent Christian worldview into both their personal and professional lives.
The hospitality industry is one of the largest employment sectors in the United States and its annual economic activity exceeds $1 trillion. Hospitality impacts people every day. From restaurants where people dine to once-in-a-lifetime vacations to special events that celebrate life’s milestones and recognize achievement – the industry is led by those whose passion is to serve others and create memorable guest experiences. No matter where you want to live and work, a degree from Liberty University in Hospitality Management can take you there.
